Over 3500 years old, this sculpture is attributed to the Olmec culture of ancient Mesoamerica. It is made of basalt and features a seated figure with a twisted torso, and clenched fists. It measures approximately 66 cm (26 in) in height and was discovered in 1933 at Arroyo Sonso, Veracruz, Mexico. This artifact is now housed by the Museo Nacional de Antropología in Mexico City, Mexico. It was discovered by a local farmer and entered the national collection in 1964.
