The family-friendly event allowed the public to try 16 different chilis, vote on their favorite and participate in activities.

It was all things chili in downtown Laurel on Saturday for the annual Firstbank Chili Cookoff hosted by Laurel Main Street.

The event has grown into a fundraiser for the Calera Fire Scholarship, as well as a way to place more safety equipment around the city.
